ADNOC City Gas has begun a programme to replace conventional gas meters with smart meters for residential customers across Abu Dhabi, giving households accurate, real-time insight into their gas use.
What is changing
Smart meters measure consumption automatically and send readings securely to ADNOC City Gas. That means no more estimated bills and no need to submit readings yourself. Customers will be able to follow their usage month by month in the customer portal.
What to expect on installation day
- We will contact you at least three days before your appointment.
- A certified technician will carry ID and wear ADNOC City Gas uniform.
- Your gas supply will be off for around 45 minutes.
- There is no charge for the replacement.

Safety comes first
Smart meters continuously monitor the supply and can alert our team to unusual activity, such as a sudden change in flow. If you ever smell gas, leave the area immediately, avoid using electrical switches or open flames, and contact our emergency team.
When will my home be upgraded?
Installations are taking place area by area, and you will receive a message with your scheduled date. You can also check your status by logging in to the customer portal.
